It is our duty at the Scott County Area Plan Commission to protect the health, safety, convenience and welfare of our community as we grow forward. We take your safety very seriously and want to help you understand the risks associated with digging, constructing, driving stakes or doing demo near underground pipelines and utilities.
Any project that requires you to dig (or drive stakes) more than twelve (12) inches with anything other than hand tools is subject to Indiana Dig Law and you should dial 811 or fill out an online ticket request so that underground pipelines and utilities can be located and marked before you dig.
Utility infrastructure is vital to any community. Accidents can be subtle or delayed at first with an increased risk over time. Please do your part in keeping yourself, your family, your neighbors, your utility workers and your emergency personnel safe by calling before you dig! Know what's below.
